Classification of Catechins:

According to the different types of carbocycles, catechins are mainly divided into four categories: epicatechin (EC), epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechin gallate (ECG) and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Among them, there are many isomers of catechin due to the structural differences of molecules, such as geometric isomerism and optical isomerism. At present, there are 12 kinds of catechins found, among which a large number are: L-EGCG; L-EGC; L-ECG; L-EC; D-GC; There are six kinds of D-C. (D, L configuration) According to the determination, most catechins in tea are L-type, and few are D-type; However, L-type catechins are mostly levorotatory and cis-type catechins. D-type transitions have the right optical rotation, and most of them are trans.
